World Premiere of Bernardo Ruiz's REPORTERO

The LPB funded film REPORTERO, by Bernardo Ruiz, will premiere in Mexico City at the Museum of Memory and Tolerance on February 15, 2012 as part of the Ambulante documentary festival tour. One of the film festivals with the largest scope in Mexico and an important platform for the exhibition of Mexican documentaries, Ambulate tours 12 Mexican Cities in over 140 venues. REPORTERO will be featured as part of the Director’s Cut lineup - documentaries covering various aspects of human rights and promoting reflection in order to reinforce or challenge our perception of reason and reality. REPORTERO follows a veteran reporter and his colleagues at ZETA, a Tijuana-based muckraking weekly, as they stubbornly ply their trade in what has become one of the deadliest places in the world to be a journalist. In Mexico, more than 40 journalists have been murdered or have gone missing since December 2006, when President Felipe Calderón Hinojosa came to power and launched a government offensive against the country's powerful drug cartels and organized crime groups.

REPORTERO is a co-production of Quiet Pictures, LLC and the Independent Television Service (ITVS) produced in association with Latino Public Broadcasting, with funding provided by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.
