ATTN Independent Public Radio/TV Journalists - ITVS and AIR Invite You to Participate in a Survey

The Association of Independents in Radio (AIR) and the Independent Television Service (ITVS) invite all independent public media journalists to participate in a survey.

Americans’ consumption of news and what sources they rely on continues to change.  Your participation is crucial in fulfilling a larger industry-wide goal to understand the size and scope of public media’s journalistic capacity -- how many individuals are involved and the level of their output – and what opportunities there may be to serve broader and more diverse constituency of Americans. The data we glean from this survey of independents will complement the findings of a census taken in August by the Public Radio News Directors, Inc. (PRNDI) looking at station-based journalists, and help provide a complete picture of what and who comprises public media journalism today.

The survey, funded by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and undertaken by MarketTrends Research, represents a first-time collaboration between ITVS and AIR, two organizations focused on independents in public television and public radio, respectively. The survey will explore questions related to distribution, format, and give insight into areas such as where independents generate income outside of public media and what their prospects may be for the future. The findings will provide the first comprehensive understanding of the scope of independent journalists contributing to public radio, television, and on-line.  To complete the survey, please go here www.markettrendsresearch.com/AIR-ITVS/AIR11.html

DEADLINE for COMPLETING THE SURVEY: Friday, December 31, 2010 at midnight ET

You’ll find a Frequently Asked Question (FAQ) at www.airmedia.org/PageInfo.php?PageID=614If you have questions, please contact erin@airmedia.org.

Thanks in advance for taking the time to be counted.
